Michaelangelo Foundation 2022-07-07
For artists and makers like me, getting discovered is something we need to work for in tandem with our creative endeavors. Showing up consistently for work is critical to reaching our desired outcome and creating artwork we can be proud of. But getting people to see and appreciate it is a different beast altogether.
Fortunately, help is always available from people and organizations dedicated to throwing a spotlight on all those who strive to create original, masterful works of handmade art.
The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship is one of those organizations. It's no wonder its founders named it—in their own words—after "a visionary artist and master artisan who embodied both creativity and craftsmanship at the very highest level of excellence."
One way they support artists and artisans is through the Homo Faber Guide, the foundation's signature project, a digital showcase of the work of makers that meet 11 research-developed criteria: authenticity, competence, craftsmanship, creativity, innovation, interpretation, originality, talent, territory, tradition, and training.
Recently, the beautiful minds behind the Homo Faber Guide found my work to fulfill those standards and decided to include me in their internationally acclaimed list of creative professionals.
For me, it's a unique opportunity to present my work to a knowledgeable audience interested in discovering people who love to make the most of their talents and know-how. And, of course, it's a great honor to see myself among such admirable company.
So, without further delay, here is my brand new Homo Faber profile, complemented by some beautiful photography and a brief but revealing interview: Maru Meleniou @ Homo Faber
Cheers!
